Zahras

Zahras's first area.

Zahras is a name given by Those Who Slither in the Dark to an abyssal void separate from Fódlan.

Overview[]

Briefly glimpsed in Fire Emblem: Three Houses, where it is depicted as nothing but a black void, Zahras is visited in more detail in Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes, where it is depicted as an endless network of paths suspended in nothing. In both cases, characters are sent to Zahras after a member of Those Who Slither in the Dark casts a spell involving a blood sacrifice in order to banish their targets.

Fire Emblem: Three Houses[]

In Chapter 10 of Three Houses, after Kronya is defeated, Solon uses her as a sacrifice in order to banish Byleth to Zahras. It is within Zahras that Sothis realizes that her power is the only thing capable of freeing them from the realm, but that she must grant it to Byleth for them to wield. Once Byleth and Sothis become one, Byleth uses their newly awakened power to escape Zahras and defeat Solon.

Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes[]

In Three Hopes, should Byleth and Jeralt be recruited in any route, Epimenides will awaken within Arval and take control of Shez. When his plot to kill Byleth is foiled, he instead sacrifices Solon in order to banish Edelgard, Dimitri, Claude, and Shez to Zahras, where he intends to finish them all off. Epimenides demonstrates having some power over Zahras, and is able to warp the landscape to sow confusion. However, Shez and the three royals fight back and kill Epimenides, freeing them from the void.

In the Azure Gleam route, Edelgard is temporarily freed from Thales's mind control for the duration that she is in Zahras.

Etymology[]

Zahras or Zahra is a female name from Arabic origins which means 'beautiful, bright, shining and brilliant'. The name has become popular because of Fatimah al-Zahra, the daughter of the Islamic prophet Muhammad who's considered the most knowledgeable of his daughters in Islam.

Trivia[]

  • The reveal trailer created for Byleth's addition to the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate roster includes a comedic, rescripted version of the scene in which Byleth escapes Zahras.
