“We are members of the proud Ilian Mercenary Knights. This is a battle that will determine the world's fate... And to us, that isn't all. The reputation of the Ilian Mercenary Knights will be determined by our actions and how we fight in this battle.”
—Zelot in a support conversation with Trec

Zelot (ゼロット Zerotto, Zelots in the Japanese version, fan translated as Jerrot) is a playable character from Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade. He is the head of the Ilian mercenaries hired by Lord Hector before his death in The Binding Blade, He, Trec, and Noah both work for him and respect him. Zelot is married to Juno and they have a child who he has not met before because he is always away at various wars. After the war ends, Zelot unifies Ilia and becomes its first king.

He makes a brief cameo appearance in Chapter 18 of the Hasha no Tsurugi manga.

Overall

Despite Zelot's low growths, he can remain potent up until the Sacae/Ilia split. His bases are somewhat higher than Marcus, meaning he can make the kills Marcus may struggle with. His D in Axes lets him wield Hammers if need be, which can help a great deal in Chapter 8. With use of a Speedwings, it is possible for Zelot to contribute endgame, although by then most units will have surpassed him. It should be noted that Zelot has surprisingly good defense and HP growths, so he will always be able to take hits well.

Zelot's perfomance in Hard Mode is even greater than in Normal Mode, where most units still struggle with defeating enemies alone. Along side Marcus, he can aid other units until they are able to hold their own. Unfortunately, due to the increased enemy strength, Zelot may struggle endgame, where he probably should be replaced by a promoted cavalier or Perceval.

Unfortunately, Zelot's support affinity do not improve attack, which many of his partners would like. However, his support options all have the advantage of being mounted.

Character Ending

  • Zelot returned to Ilia, where he worked to rebuild the ruined land. He eventually united the Knights' Union of Ilia into the Kingdom of Ilia, and he left his name in history as the nation's first king.

Etymology

A "zealot" refers to a radical follower of a faith or cause, taken from the Zealots, a 1st century Jewish faction that tried to incite rebellion against the Roman Empire and expel them from the Holy Land.
