Etymology[]
In German, the name Zweihänder translates to "two-handed", as the weapon was usually between five to six feet (roughly one and a half to two meters) long and was heavy given its size. It was also primarily used against pikes, in bodyguard settings, and rarely against infantry.
Trivia[]
- Despite its name translating to "two-handed", everyone in Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia wields the sword one-handed due to the one seen in said game being much smaller than its real life counterpart.
